21 Days of Fasting - 2025 - Day 13
Daily Devotional: The Unchanging Nature of God
Scripture: Numbers 23:19 (NKJV)
“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
Expository Explanation
This verse is part of Balaam’s prophetic message to Balak, the king of Moab. Balak had hired Balaam, a prophet, to curse Israel, but God only allowed Balaam to speak blessings over them. In this verse, Balaam declares a fundamental truth about God: He is not like humans, who are prone to deception and change. Unlike man, God does not lie or change His mind. What He promises, He fulfills; what He speaks, He brings to pass.
Devotional Thought
In a world where people often break promises and circumstances change unexpectedly, it is comforting to know that God remains the same. His word is trustworthy, and His promises are sure. If He has spoken a blessing over your life, no force can overturn it. Sometimes, we struggle with doubt, wondering if God will truly come through for us. But this verse reassures us that God is consistent, faithful, and unchanging. His word is as firm today as it was when it was first spoken.
When we face uncertainty, we can find peace in knowing that God’s nature is steadfast. If He has promised to provide, He will. If He has said He will never leave us, we can be confident in His presence. If He has spoken life over us, nothing can cancel His divine will. Our trust should not be in shifting circumstances but in the unwavering faithfulness of our God.
Reflection Questions
1.What are some promises from God’s Word that you need to hold onto today?
2.Have you ever doubted God’s faithfulness? How did He prove Himself true in your life?
3.How can you remind yourself daily that God does not lie or change His mind?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for being faithful and unchanging. In a world filled with uncertainty, I find peace in knowing that Your promises are true. Help me to trust in Your Word and to stand firm in faith, even when circumstances seem uncertain. Remind me daily that You do not lie, and You do not change. Your Word is my foundation, and I choose to build my life upon it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Action Step
Identify one promise from Scripture that you need to trust in today. Write it down, meditate on it, and pray over it. Whenever doubt tries to creep in, declare that God is faithful and His Word will come to pass.
