21 Days of Fasting - 2025 - Day 14
Daily Devotional: A New Way
Scripture: Joshua 3:4 (NIV)"Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before. But keep a distance of about two thousand cubits between you and the ark; do not go near it."
Expository Explanation: In Joshua 3, the Israelites are preparing to cross the Jordan River into the Promised Land, a place they have never been before. God, through Joshua, instructs them to follow the Ark of the Covenant from a distance, signifying His presence and leadership. The phrase "you have never been this way before" highlights the unfamiliarity and uncertainty of their journey. It is a call to trust in God's direction rather than their own understanding. The instruction to maintain distance from the ark emphasizes reverence and obedience, reminding the people that God's guidance is paramount in unknown territory.
Devotional Thought: Life often presents us with paths we've never walked before—new challenges, unfamiliar opportunities, and unexpected trials. In these moments, uncertainty can create fear, doubt, and hesitation. However, just as God led the Israelites through uncharted territory, He promises to guide us today. When we fix our eyes on Him and follow His leading, we can confidently move forward, knowing that He sees the road ahead. Trusting God's timing, provision, and wisdom allows us to embrace the unknown with faith instead of fear.
Reflection Questions:
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart that longs to trust You more. As I face uncertainties and unknown paths, help me to fix my eyes on You and follow Your lead. Teach me to walk by faith and not by sight, trusting that You have prepared the way ahead of me. Remove any fear or doubt that holds me back, and give me the courage to step forward with confidence in Your presence. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Action Step: Take time today to identify an area of uncertainty in your life and intentionally commit it to God in prayer. Write down a Bible verse that reminds you of His guidance and place it somewhere visible as a daily encouragement.
